Our Shared Commitment
How We Show Up for One Another
We are building a community rooted in love, justice, and transformation within ourselves and in the world.
This is a space for those committed not only to justice, but to the inner work required to pursue it with humility, integrity, and care. We believe this inner work shapes how we show up in the world. We commit to growing in ways that allow us to engage others with honesty and respect, and to pursue justice without reproducing harmful patterns.
This shared commitment is not about showing up perfectly, nor is it about sacrificing our authenticity to avoid tension or discomfort. It is an invitation into a shared way of being rooted in self-awareness, mutual responsibility, and sustainable action that strengthens the long-term health and resilience of our community.
1. We take responsibility for our inner world
We are accountable for our emotions, reactions, and personal growth. While we absolutely support one another, we do not expect others to carry our burdens that we are unwilling to carry ourselves.
2. We value self-awareness, accountability, and integrity
We seek to notice what is happening within us before reacting outwardly. We speak from our own experience, avoid blame-shifting, and engage others without venting, shaming, or projecting unresolved conflict onto individuals or groups. We engage difficult issues with clarity rather than unexamined reaction.
3. We practice humility, openness, and respect
We are all learning. No one knows everything, and everyone has something to contribute. We listen with curiosity, remain open to growth, and do not shame others for what they do not yet know. We value open-mindedness and treat one another with dignity, even in disagreement.
4. We honor boundaries and practice reciprocity
We respect one another’s time, energy, and limits. No one is expected to be constantly available. We both give and receive support, without creating patterns of dependency or withdrawal. We contribute to the health of the community in ways that are sustainable for ourselves and others.
5. We value rest and move at a sustainable pace
We recognize both the urgency of the world and the limits of our human capacity. We value rest, rhythm, and sustainability as essential to long-term justice work. We do not glorify burnout or constant urgency. Instead, we seek a pace that allows us to remain grounded, present, and effective over time.
